Buyer: Sydney’s CBD welcomed back InterContinental Hotels Group’s Crowne Plaza brand this week following a ten-year hiatus.
Standing 13-storeys tall, Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour is situated on the corner of Bathurst and Sussex Street and features 152 guestrooms which are divided into four distinct zones – a desk space for work, a sofa area to unwind, king size beds for a good night’s sleep and well-lit, spacious bathrooms replete with Antipodes amenities.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian was joined by representatives from the Accommodation Association, Tourism Australia, Tourism & Transport Forum and DNSW for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony of the venue.
Managing Director of IHG Australasia & Japan, Leanne Harwood, said the opening was a strong show of unity and an indication of everyone’s willingness to get the industry moving again.
“Globally, we are completely transforming the brand as we build hotels of the future with flexible design and innovation that modern travellers crave,” she said.
“And here in Australia, 2020 really is the year of Crowne Plaza, with the refurbishment of our existing estate, and the opening of new hotels in Hobart, Adelaide, and Sydney Darling Harbour.
“From its sustainability initiatives to new technology in the rooms and restaurants, Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour is a wonderful addition to the brand’s growth in Australasia.”
From USB outlets and wireless charging stations throughout the hotel, to in-room Bluetooth speakers, unlimited high-speed wifi and Chromecast TVs, the generously sized guestrooms are brimming with technology-led features.
Other hotel facilities include a rooftop heated infinity pool with city views, a 24-hour fitness centre with state-of-the-art equipment and three food and beverage venues.
Nearby attractions include Darling Harbour, five minutes to Pitt Street Mall and under 10 minutes to the International Convention Centre and Barangaroo.
