Chateau Denmark, a new hotel found on Soho’s Denmark Street which is inspired by the rock ‘n’ roll history of the area, has announced it will open on 4 April.

The new, independent brand is set across 16 buildings, comprising 55 ‘Session Rooms’ and Apartments each kitted out with a distinct style.

The Signature apartments will be located across a number of the buildings, including the 51 sq m ‘I Am Anarchy’ duplex mews house, situated behind No 6 Denmark Street. Inspired by former residents the Sex Pistols it will feature gloss black furniture, tartan blinds and graffitied chairs. Adjacent to Denmark Street on Flitcroft Street will be the Flitcroft Apartments, finished in a vintage gothic aesthetic overlooking St Giles-in-the-Fields.

Chateau Denmark is operated by Carrie Wicks’ CAW Ventures and features interiors from Taylor Howes, with the design inspiration said to “imagine a time where punk rock and vintage gothic meets modern psychedelia with a timeless grandeur.”

Several of the apartments are housed in the building where the Rolling Stones recorded their first album. Session Rooms in The Now Building, accessed through Denmark Place, are tiered in Superior, Luxury or Deluxe categories.

Expect striking and provocative interiors, including gold-trimmed beds with graffitied headboards, sculpted fireplaces and roll-top red-lined bathtubs perched atop a marble plinth.

No ordinary hotel!

Chateau Denmark will offer a team of butlers, which they have collectively billed as BTLR, while it also promises that its technology will allow for frictionless service delivery.

Following the sentiment of creative expression and taking leave of the rule book, Chateau Denmark presents a fresher, re-imagined perspective on travel. Challenging convention, signature rooms will feature maxi-bars, not minibars – perfect for hosting, ghosting and other illustrious pursuits.

The hotel will also have the capabilities to host press interviews and junkets, for industry talent and producers, hoping to inspire creatives in the local area. Room rates will start from £510, apartments from £660.

The property will exhibit a range of artists and creators, including Magnus Gjoen and Radek Husak: the contemporary collection will feature various mediums from paintings and photography to sculpture and illustrations.

On the top floor of The Now Building, guests will find the first London site of independent restaurant group Tattu, known for its extensive menu of Asian-influenced dishes and Instagram-friendly interiors.

Later in the year, a lounge bar and basement club will open, along with a fitness and wellness space, shops, a recording studio and new venues which guests will be able to hire out for private events and parties.

THPT Comment: Well this new hotel in London’s Soho is certainly going to be the trendiest of London’s trendy hotel. Carrie Wicks learned well from the master of this craft, with nineteen years service at Kit & Tim Kemps’ Firmdale Hotels. Soho used to be known for strip clubs and men in dirty raincoats until the Kemps opened The Soho and pre-dating that Mark Fuller opened The Sanctum – now the Karma Sanctum.
