Hyatt Opens Asia’s First Joie de Vivre Hotel

Seller: The site is a former hotel, The Zhaolong Hotel, which opened in October 1985, as one of communist China’s first luxury hotels. It was opened by Pao Yue-kong, named after his father Pao Zhao-long.
Buyer: Hyatt Hotels Corp. has opened the BEI Zhaolong Hotel in Beijing, the first Joie de Vivre hotel in Asia.
The property is a conversion of the former Zhaolong Hotel, which opened on the exact same date in 1985. The hotel underwent a renovation before reopening under its new name.
The 202-room hotel has a dedicated gallery hall that displays local art as well as “immersive digital projections depicting the essence of old Beijing.”
Public spaces include a restaurant and grab-and-go counter, an outdoor patio, an after-hours lounge and a 2,583-square-foot ballroom and multi-function space that can accommodate up to 120 guests for a banquet.
