Buyer: Melia Hotels is preparing to launch two Gran Melia hotels in China. The 265 room Gran Melia Chengdu, opening this autumn, will be followed by a 387 room hotel in Zhengzhou.

It is five years since Melia launched its first Gran Melia in China, in Xi’an. Melia’s APAC pipeline includes nine hotels across China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia, due to open this year and next.

This autumn, the luxury urban resort hotel Gran Meliá Chengdu will be open to the public. The opening of Gran Meliá Chengdu is expected to set the new industry benchmark for luxury resort hotels in the local market and to become the selected travel choice for business elites and leisure tourists.

Gran Meliá Chengdu is located in the new centre within the south of the city, covering an area of 28,300 sqm. The location offers a unique perspective as the hotel is next to the Jincheng Lake, adjacent to Global Centre, Financial City, Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Railway Station, and within easy reach of various famous scenic spots in Chengdu.

The hotel consists of seven separate mansions which are inspired by Chinese traditional Shu-Han culture, courtyard design of classical architecture, and surrounded by green lush plants. It is an urban resort hotel with perfect integration of historical culture essence and luxury modern element. The hotel is comprised of 265 rooms and suites ranging from 50 to 270 sqm.

Guests can enjoy a superior food-tasting journey in Gran Meliá Chengdu. The hotel hosts All-Day Dining Restaurant Vista Café, Rong Palace Chinese Restaurant, Gran Via Spanish Restaurant, Flora Lobby Bar and El Patio Lounge. The hotel has over 3,500 sqm in banquet and conference space including one grand ballroom, one multi-function hall, three VIP halls, and 12 conference rooms.

The spa and fitness centre is the first choice for guests seeking leisure and relaxation, providing the ultimate comfort, in an atmosphere of fragrance and gentle music. Besides, the hotel’s indoor constant temperature swimming pool with underfloor heating and ozone disinfection system, and the latest fitness equipment can help the guests unleash their power to reclaim vital health.

On the other side of the country, Gran Meliá Zhengzhou demonstrates the exquisite elegance of the Spanish design style combined with the culture from the Central Plains, reflecting the infinite charm of high-quality urban life. Gran Meliá Zhengzhou is situated at Zhengzhou high-speed railway commercial circle and is going to be the first Spanish luxury hotel in this area.

It’s convenient location makes it 5 minutes’ walk to Zhengzhou East Railway Station and Metro Line 1 and 5, and it takes only 17 minutes to reach Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport by airport express.

The hotel has a total of 387 guest rooms and suites ranging from 38 to 210 sqm, in artistic decors that emanate a Spanish flair, and with panorama windows that offer astonishing views of the river and the city.

The hotel has three distinct restaurants, a lobby lounge and a bar. Guests may relax over afternoon tea at the lobby lounge, revel in a wide array of local delicacies or international cuisine at Ebro All-Day Dining Restaurant, or taste the classics of Henan cuisines at the Jin Yu Yan Chinese Restaurant.

There is also the opportunity to savour Iberian flavors at the Gran Via Spanish Restaurant, or the La Cava Bar. The hotel includes 7 conference rooms, VIP lounges, and multi-function rooms of different sizes. The 24-hours fitness centre includes steam room and sauna as well as a swimming pool.

Both hotels provide the Melia Red Level service that embodies the lavishness and glamour of the brand. Guests booking into the Red Level executive floor or mansions, will enjoy exclusive check-in and check-out, private butler, access to Red Level Lounge with complimentary food & beverage, exquisite meetings, and other ultimate VIP services.

Meliá Hotels International is expecting to open 9 new hotels across China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia in the APAC region in 2020 and 2021, along with further expansion plans for up to 50 properties across the region in the next few years.
