Seller: The hotel is located in the building where the historic Kings Palace Hotel once stood. The former Kings Palace Hotel building, which was leased to Lampsa Hellenic Hotels SA by the fund of former Agrotiki Bank employees for a period of 30 years.
Owner: Lampsa Hellenic Hotels SA, which owns the Grande Bretagne and King George located in the heart of Athens on Syntagma Square, is bringing another luxury hotel brand to the Greek capital in cooperation with French hospitality company AccorHotels.
The luxurious 177-room hotel will open its doors on 1 September, right in the centre of the Greek capital, on Syntagma Square next to the Parliament House.
The Athens Capital Hotel will strengthen the portfolio of Lampsa Hellenic Hotel SA, which already owns some of the most iconic hotels in Athens, the Grande Bretagne and King George and invested €25 million in the construction of this exceptional property, and will be operated under the MGallery brand, reinforcing the Accor’s presence in the capital.
“We look forward to the opening of Athens Capital Hotel as it is the first ever MGallery Collection Hotel in Greece and will introduce this Accor brand as a premium addition to the excellent establishments which comprise our presence in the country,” said Jean-Charles Delgado, COO of Accor Southern Europe.
The hotel is located in the immediate vicinity of the city’s main sights, with a magnificent view of the Acropolis. Guests at the hotel can stroll through the beautiful streets of Athens and explore the history of ancient Greece.
The hotel will offer 158 rooms, 18 suites and 1 imposing presidential suite, all with their own aesthetics and design incorporating Greek symbols. The facilities of the property also include a Mediterranean restaurant open for lunch and dinner, as well as a bar, 4 meeting rooms for a total capacity of 150 guests, and a rooftop swimming pool with panoramic view on Athens, whose bar is decorated with part of the Mappemonde collection by the artist George Lappas, created in 1988 and comprising nearly 3,000 pieces.
MGallery being a boutique-hotel brand offering unique experiences, guests will be offered an “iconic object”, with an important meaning for the city, or a “memorable moment”, to reveal the uniqueness of the area.
